Averevoir is an almost mythical being, having only been sighted a dozen times in the entire history of New Wirral. Local legend says that the plant it clasps in its beak can cure any illness and grant eternal life – not that anyone has obtained it to prove if this is true, of course.

The liver bird is a mythical creature from England. It is depicted as a bird, perhaps a cormorant, often containing a twig or branch in its beak. It is the symbol of the English city of Liverpool, and has its origin on the city’s earliest town seal.
